Committees

The success of the San Francisco Chapter is dependent upon the active participation of Chapter members on Chapter Committees.  The Chapter Committees are the life force behind all Chapter initiatives, events and activities.  Below is a description of each Committee.  If you are interested in participating on a Committee, please notify the Chapter President by submitting the information requested at the bottom of this page.

Appointed Committees

Membership Committee

This committee is responsible for promoting membership in the Association and for maintaining Chapter membership records.

Fall Conference Committee

This committee is responsible for planning and directing the Annual Fall Conference which includes solication of keynote, speakers, sponsores, exhibitors, conference schedule, budget, facilities, proctors and registrations.

Education Committee

This committee is responsible for planning and directing all educational offerings including monthly meetings, seminars, and presentations.

CISA Coordination Committee

This committee is responsible for developing and coordinating the Chapter's annual CISA Review Course.  The committee also coordinates the annual CISA Recognition Luncheon established to honor Chapter members who pass the CISA Examination.

CISM Coordination Committee

This committee is responsible for developing and coordinating the Chapter's annual CISM Review Course.  The committee also coordinates the annual CISM Recognition Luncheon established to honor Chapter members who pass the CISM Examination.

Communications Committee

This committee is responsible for Chapter communications including the maintenance of this website and the publication of the Chapter newsletter--LOCAL AREA NETWORK

Academic Relations Committee

This committee is responsible for promoting the Association at Bay Area universities to educate students about the information systems audit profession.  This committee also facilitates the establishment of Student Chapters at the universities.

Research Committee

The committee is responsible for special research projects.

 

Standing Committees

Executive Committee

This committee is composed of the Chapter President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  This committee has the power to act for the Board between meetings of the Board.  Such delegated power is subject to the ratification of the actions of the Executive Committee at the next Board Meeting and also subject to any limitation the Board may from time to time impose on this committee.

Nominating Committee

This committee is appointed by the Chapter President, subject to the approval of the Board.  This committee is composed of three Chapter members and is responsible for nominating candidates for election to Chapter officer and director positions.  This committee meets on an annual basis.

Audit Committee

This committee is appointed by the Chapter President, subject to the approval of the Board.  This committee is composed of two Chapter members in good standing who do not have check signing authority or any other conflict of interest.  The committee completes an annual audit of the Chapter records and reports the audit findings to the Board.

Election Committee

This committee is appointed by the Chapter President, subject to the approval of the Board.  This committee is composed of two Chapter members and is responsible for:

  • mailing election ballots to Chapter members
  • receiving and tabulating results of returned ballots
  • submitting a written report of the election results to the Board

This committee meets on an annual basis.

marketing Committee

This committee is appointed by the Chapter President, subject to the approval of the Board.  This committee is responsible for:

  • promoting our chapter within the community

This committee meets on an as-needed basis.

policies & procedures Committee

This committee is appointed by the Chapter President, subject to the approval of the Board.  This committee is responsible for:

  • organizing and managing the chapter's policies and procedures
  • placing them into a commonly accessable repository
  • establishing the tasks necessary to ensure the ongoing maintenance of the chapters policies and procedures

This committee meets on an as-needed basis.

Communications Provide newsletter content and management, evolve and manage the chapter website, define and deploy evolving member communication channels.

Education Plan, organize and manage monthly educational events, work with other organizations to plan joint sessions, day-long technical sessions and vendor provided training.

Fall Conference Plan, organize and manage the annual Fall Conference with opportunities to focus on publicity, speaker/topic, conference logistics and venue, attendee materials and gifts planning, and assist in vendor and sponsor management.

Marketing Build recognition of the SF Chapter and expand awareness of Chapter offerings, events and activities, both within existing membership and to external parties.

Membership Define and deploy new methods of engagement with members, improve chapter leadership understanding of member priorities, and improve the membership growth and retention rates.

Policy & Procedures Manage the development of Chapter policy and procedures, and the system for managing files, documents and records. Act as a librarian and source to provide answers for matters related to policy and procedures.

Research Participate in chapter efforts on CobiT® development, contributions to ValIT and item writing for certification exams.

Major Task Leader

Volunteer Manage the intake of volunteers, the expression of needs from chapter leadership and the process by which the two are matched.
