PANELISTS

Barbara Lawler is the first Chief Privacy Officer at Intuit, makers of, TurboTax®, Quicken®, QuickBooks®, and other specialized software and services that transform business and financial management for small businesses, accounting professionals, taxpayers and consumers. The California-based firm has over 7,500 employees with major offices in 13 states, in Canada, United Kingdom and India with customers around world. Lawler leads the Intuit privacy team, and is responsible for creating and driving privacy and personal information use strategy, policy and implementation, regulatory analysis to deliver the best experiences to customers and employees. Prior to Intuit, Barbara was the CPO at Hewlett Packard. While there, she lead a global team responsible for online and offline privacy strategy, policy and standards creation to support the HP brand and standing as an exemplary corporate citizen. She was the driver for implementing customer-friendly privacy policies and practices, helping HP to become a recognized leader in privacy, culminating in HP’s selection as the “Most Trusted Company for Privacy” in 2005. Barb is a member of the International Association of Privacy Practitioners (IAPP) Board of Directors, the Center for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL), Ponemon Institute RIM Council Advisory Board, and has served on the California Office of Privacy Protection Advisory Board. She is speaks frequently on privacy issues and has testified before the U.S. Congress House and Senate and the Internal Revenue Service. Her past management experience includes direct and channel marketing, data management and systems administration. Barb is a graduate of San Jose State University with a B.S. in Business with concentration in Business Law, minor coursework in Advertising and a Marketing Communications Certification. She is a graduate of the Leadership Los Gatos community leadership program. When not working on privacy, Barb spends time as a Girl Scout Leader.

Rena Mears is the Global and National Service Line Leader of the Deloitte Privacy Team and Northern Pacific Regional leader for Deloitte Security Services. She is an internationally recognized expert in security and privacy. Rena has more than 20 years of experience in security strategy and program design, enterprise security architecture (ESA), and secure infrastructure implementation. She has authored articles on wireless technology, customer and employee privacy and security in the enterprise such as “A Matter of Trust” and “The New Wireless Enterprise.” She has presented at numerous IAPP events including topics such as “Privacy in the Product Development Process” and “Encryption Strategies & Implementation”. She holds a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She also a member of the American Bar Association – ISC5 –
PKI Assessment Guidelines (PAG) Committee, ANSI Standards Board – X9F5 – Certification Policy and Procedures, the AICPA Assurance Services Executive Committee, the RIM Council Advisory Board and a founding member of the IBM Privacy Management Council.

Doron Rotman is a Managing Director in KPMG's Risk & Advisory Services practice with over 20 years of experience. Mr. Rotman is focused on providing Privacy and eBusiness Services and is the national privacy service leader, a member of KPMG’s national Privacy Leadership Council and a member of KPMG International Privacy Team. He has extensive high tech, financial services, manufacturing and government industry knowledge, both in the information technology and the accounting and finance aspects. Mr. Rotman received a MSc. degree in Finance and Accounting and a BA. (Magna Cum Laude) degree in Accounting &
Economics from the University of Tel Aviv, Israel. He is a CPA (Israel), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a member of ISACA, the International Association of Privacy Professionals and the Institute of Internal Auditors. He has made numerous presentations pertaining to US and global data privacy legislation and has authored professional papers on privacy and other subjects. Mr. Rotman is a member of the AICPA\CICA Enterprise Wide Privacy Taskforce that developed the Generally Accepted Privacy Principles, a global privacy standard.

Alex Fowler is an internationally recognized expert in privacy and security. He co-leads PricewaterhouseCoopers' privacy practice and has deep expertise in designing, assessing, and implementing compliance and governance strategies for privacy and security. In addition, Alex recently led the firm's development of an IT Risk and Compliance solution as part of an overall IT Effectiveness
practice. Prior to joining PwC, Alex was a Senior Director with Zero-Knowledge Systems, an innovative software company
providing privacy-enabling technologies and services. He began his career in science and technology policy with the American Association for the Advancement of Science where he managed projects on emerging ethical, legal, and social issues associated with information technology. He then joined the Electronic Frontier Foundation and led programmatic activities on privacy, cryptography, and intellectual property. Alex has authored numerous articles, is a frequent speaker and media commentator, and holds degrees from Brown University and George Washington University.
